Akeem’s Advice Of The Week: What you are is what you have been, and what you will be is what you do now.
Q: How do you get started choosing a college?
Akeem’s Advice:
- The first thing you want to do is focus on your grades because that’s going to get you into college.
- Go on a college road trip, visiting as many as you can in a weekend.
- Look on the PHS website (hs.peekskillcsd.org) and click on the Colleges & Scholarships link. There you can search for colleges, scholarships, and college reps that are visiting our school.
- Visit your guidance counselor and ask them what colleges they recommend for you.
- Ask your parents and relatives what colleges they think are right for you.
Remember college determines your choices in where you go in life. It isn’t all about fun and games, it’s about finding your potential and deciding what you want for a career. So my advice would be to check out colleges that challenge the best of your abilities and can move you forward in the world.
