The Interact Club is a club devoted to doing volunteer work in Peekskill and neighboring communities.  You may remember that last year we organized the “Stuff the Truck” campaign for the local Salvation Army.  Thanks to the Peekskill community’s donations the event was a success.  The Salvation Army was our charity of choice for the MSG Varsity Charity Champions contest, sadly we did not win, but we are more motivated this year to win another contest and continue our community service campaigns.

This year, we are conducting two charity drives.  The first charity we are working with is the Briarcliff SPCA.  We are organizing a blanket and towel drive, “Fluff the Pups,” from January 21st-February 7th.  We will place boxes in all school offices to collect donations next week.  We are accepting all types of blankets and towels and donations can be dropped off at any school during school hours.

The second charity drive that the Interact club is working on is the “Teens for Jeans” drive.  “Teens for Jeans” is a drive set up by Aeropostale where jeans are collected and then donated to teenagers living in shelters. We are looking for jeans that are in good condition.  Jeans will be accepted from now until February 14th.  The school that raises the most jeans will receive a $5,000 grant! More information on the “Teens for Jeans” campaign can be found here: http://www.dosomething.org/teensforjeans.

We are looking for as many donations as possible for both of these fantastic community charity drives.  If you, your family, or group organization would like to donate blankets, towels or jeans please feel free to drop off any donations to any of our Peekskill City School District Schools.  If you need more information, feel free to call Peekskill High School at 737-0201 and speak with Mr. Goess or Ms. Skrivanek, the Co-Advisors of the Interact Club.
