Each year, across the nation, one event brings together entire communities to take part in the fight against cancer. That event is the American Cancer Society Relay For Life®. It’s a time and place where people come to celebrate those who have survived cancer, remember those we’ve lost, and fight back against a disease that touches too many lives.
The Relay For Life of Peekskill is looking to involve the community of Peekskill to join in celebration of their cancer survivors and come together as one in support of those lost to cancer.
Throughout the day and into the night, teams of family and friends within those communities will be enjoying entertainment, music and family-friendly activities while one person from each team takes turns walking around the track until the closing ceremony the next morning.
The event is open to the public with an emphasis on creating teams to fundraise prior to, and during the event and campout at Depew Park. Cancer survivors are invited to enjoy a complimentary reception and walk in the Honorary First Lap of the relay and people that have purchased luminarias are invited to light their own candle during the Luminaria Ceremony at 10pm.
