A breakfast meeting with a purpose was held in the library on Dec. 16th. Forty students who were identified as improving their grades, but still needing to do more, were invited to the meeting. In addition to a light breakfast, the students took part in a survey, listened to a motivational speaker, and met with their Guidance Counselors to dicuss grades and credits. The speaker, Mr. Rodney Headley, who is the new Health Teacher at the Middle School, spoke about how he turned things around after failing his first two years of high school. The students were attentive and participated enthusiastically in the activities.
nd they knew that their teachers were in contact with their families. As for some of the reasons given for not succeeding, the students cited: their lessons were not interesting, they weren't sure if the grading system was fair; and they weren't sure if their teachers cared about them as people. The Administration and Support Staff will use the information gathered to continue to seek ways to help all of our students be successful. If you have any ideas feel free to leave a comment.
