Graduation began at 2pm under the tent on the Parade Field. Family and friends were already assembled, and as the band played Pomp and Circumstance, the staff and students marched in. The 2010 graduation class consisted of 166 students. Mr. Burruano introduced Alanna Lyles who served as the mistress of ceremonies. Speeches were delivered by Student Council President Evelyn Romero, Salutatorians Jessica Curtain and Jason Dick, and Valedictorian Alex Velez- Green. After Assistant Principals Hersh and Reyes read the names, the graduates came up to the stage to receive their diplomas and be congratulated by Superintendent Johnson and members of the Board of Education. Senior advisors, Ms. Norton and Mr. Hubbard , continued to help organize the students as they have helped them the past four years. Superintendent Johnson urged the graduates to go out and make a difference in the world. The High School PTO presented Principal Burruano with a framed picture of the ” hanging tree” as a memento of his 42 years of service. PHS spirit was strong on Sunday and the heartfelt cheers at end of the ceremony was a sound that everyone will remember.
