Last night the annual Senior Awards Ceremony was held at The Paramount Theater. What a night it was! In front of an audience filled with parents, staff, friends, and family, dozens of seniors received awards, certificates, medals, and MONEY!! The event was hosted by Principal Burruano and Assistant Principals Hersh and Reyes. Altogether 27 awards and 71 scholarships were given out. The excitement really started when Ms. Daisy Brand distributed 15 Camp Inc. Achievers Scholarships worth $1,ooo each . By the time Mr, Burruano announced that the Gates Millennium Scholarship that Joe Vele won was in the hunreds of thousands of dollars range, the mood had become electric. In between, individual seniors reaped in hundreds and in many cases thousands of dollars. Hard work certainly did pay off last night. In addition to the students work, much of the credit for the night goes to Mrs. Gordineer, whose work in the guidance department assisted the students in securing the scholarships. The night ended with Superintendent Johnson acknowledging the retirement of Principal Burruano and the crowd rising to give him a standing ovation.
