A recent report on PHS indicated that last year 71% of the students who had the chance to graduate actually earned a spot in the graduating class of 2011. Of those who graduated, 75 % earned Regents Diplomas ( 28 % of those were Advanced Designation meaning that the students earned passing grades on Regents in additional course work) 25 % of graduates earned local diplomas. ( This diploma is valid, but only available to a small number of students in the special education department.)
The reason for reviewing where we have been is to set goals for where we need to go. While most students at PHS are being successful, more should be. All students need to take school seriously. All parents need to take an interest in their children’s education. All staff have to find ways to support student achievement. The beginning of school is a time for setting goals. I encourage everybody to aim high!
