Over the summer I had the opportunity to work with, observe, and interact with many students and alumni of Peekskill High School. This gave me the chance to not just see them as “students”, but to experience them as “people”. In my position as Day Camp Director, I worked with over 35 PHS “people” : Lauren Marrero, Umar Sarwar, Chris Morgan, Catherine Semple, Kimberly Carlo, Steven Minard, Richard Simmons, Dyanni Sanchez, Brianna Torres, Darius Luna, Alexis DiNota, Laura Egan, Yusef Azim, Carlos Menoscal, Malika Hunt, Kiera Bell, Darien Kendrick, Solmary Davila, Elijah Azim, Robert Pagan, John Maxwell, Jeffery Lawler, Allanah Yap, Tim Moseley, Imani Wright, Ana Chimbo, Kevin Santiago, Darwin Molina, Daniel Luna, Kenyatta Burnett, Jamil Bristow, Ashley Aitken, Mikyla Abdul Azim, Kyron Chandler, Kyle Clark, Angie Vierra ,and Catie Davis all worked at the Day Camp. Charlie DiNota and Manny Henry performed for the campers with their band Backlash. I saw the Over the Moon Productions charity performance of Tommy put together by Catie Davis and Lauren Contrad with Jason Dick, Danny Bush, Nolan Davis, Paul Beladino, and Robert Pagan. My time with this sample of students showed me that PHS has a lot to be proud of. These PHS people are caring, creative, intelligent, talented, and hard working. In my opinion, the future is bright at Pekskill High School!
