As a part of the PHS PACE (Peekskill Alternative Center of Education) Program health class, students researched various forms of cancer, treatments that are given and prognosis of diseases. As a culminating activity we decided to sponsor an organization that deals with cancer in children on a daily basis. We found St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, in Memphis, Tennessee, and have decided to have a fund raiser for them.
Every person at PHS was asked to wear the word HOPE on them, in any way-shape-or-form, on Wednesday, December 16th, as a show of support. A
count was taken during 8th period to determine the number of participants. Also, everyone in PHS was asked to donate whatever they can for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. This was collected during 8th period as well. A total of 197 people wore HOPE in participation of the project and $415 has been collected so far. Donations will be accepted up until Tuesday, Dec. 22nd, 2009.
