Supreme Court Judge Carmen Velazquez to PHS Students: ‘Follow Your Dreams’

On Wednesday, September 21, New York State Supreme Court Judge Carmen Velasquez came to Peekskill High School to talk to students in an English as a New Language (ENL) class. Judge Velasquez is the first female judge in the New York State Supreme Court.
At her visit, Judge Velazquez encouraged students to follow their dreams.
“Never give up on your dreams,” Velazquez said. “It doesn’t matter where you are from, or what country you were raised. Keep studying, and you will reach your dreams.”
“Judge Carmen always reached for her goals and beyond, and now she is at the top,” said Aryany Barahona Garcia, a PHS student who attended the assembly.
