Reflection

Everything was going fine up until now. I’m in prison in my own home.

Stuck with sunlight through a window and oxygen shared with anyone that steps on our tile floors, but maybe it’s for the best.  Today was a new day we never thought could happen, but it was about time to set foot on the outside world. I felt the fresh air going through my face, and my little people (my brothers) had the biggest smiles and their legs running through the grass. It was nice, cool. Not too hot, but just the right amount.

“Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets,” I said to myself today, so as I held my brothers’ hands to cross the roads ahead, we headed to our destination. Not a lot of people were out today, so I wondered to myself, “Well, maybe it’s because of the virus we all made fun of at first.”  They even made up a song about it, but when it hit the places we are most close to, it wasn’t as fun as it was before.

We began to play around the park with our dog, swing across the swings and played catch with a very slippery ball. Our father went out and bought some ice cream and bread, and as we ate we knew it was time to head home. Our smiles turned into frowns but we knew we couldn’t stay out for long. As we headed home, we saw a little bird in a nest above a tree over our heads and it began to rain a little so we ran up and down cross roads as quickly as possible. Boom, we were home where there was no rain, no sky, just a living room and a TV waiting to be switched on.
