Honor Society members do no apply, they are selected. The process begins after the second marking period during Junior year. To qualify, students must have an 85 cumulative GPA, no class failures, and demonstrate the qualities of character, leadership, and service. This year's selection process begins on Feb. 1st for the National Honor Society.
NYS Math Honor Society requires an 85 or better in the Algebra I regents, an 85 or better in math classes, and no failures in other classes. Applications are due by February 26th to Mr. Brown in room 227. Mu Alpha Theta (MATH) requires mastery on all math Regents exams and requires a selection process similar to the NHS.
Honor Society members
take part in many community service events. This year members donated food baskets to needy families for Thanksgiving, sponsor a staff breakfast during Regents week, and they rang bells for Salvation Army during the holidays. Last year they raised money for Cerebral Palsy and plan to do that again this February.
