Nicole Cummings competed on Saturday, Jan. 9th at the Hispanic Games at the Armory in NYC, where she placed 2nd overall in the long jump with a new personal best of 19' 1″ and placed 6th in the 55 meter High Hurdles.
Nicole Cummings also placed 2nd in the Bishop Loughlin Games on December 19th in both the 55 High Hurdles (8.12 FAT) and the long jump (18' 10.5″). Her performances at the time had her ranked in the top 3 in the nation.
On January 7th the track and field team competed at the “Dendy Meet” at Rockland Community College. Approximately 20 teams from Section 1 were at the meet.
For the Boys:
Miles Banks placed 4th overall in the shot put with a throw of 38' 2″.
Kyle Council placed 11th with a throw of 34' 5″.
Taureen Holliman placed 15th with a throw of 33' 3″.
Tony Ranca, Kenny Phillips, and Chris Ranca were close behind.
In the 200 meter dash, Joseph Zwick led the way for Peekskill with a time of
27.8 seconds followed by Diego Vivar, Je'Roy Rogers, Richie Simmons, Edison Fernandez, and Kevin Phillips.
Sal Morrocco (8th grade) ran a great race in the 400 meter.
The boys’ 4×400 meter relay which was led off by Je'Roy Rogers, followed by Joseph Zwick and Richie Simmons, and anchored by Edison Fernandez had a respectable race.
For the girls:
Laura Egan, Jessica Vivar, and Eunice Guardado held their own in the 200 meter dash.In the girls 1500 meter, Nicole Lazevnick and Catherine Shaw placed 9th and 10th. Sarah Stern (8th grade) was close behind in 26th.
Nicole Cummings will be competing January 9th at the Hispanic Games at the Armory in NYC. The team’s next meet will be on Sunday, January 17th, at the league championships.
