Interview with Nina Kraja, Varsity Cheerleading Coach
- What is happening with your team at this time?
Nina Kraja: During this time, the squad is trying their best to learn new cheers and routines. We are working hard during practices and games in hopes of creating and maintaining a positive spirit. - How are they performing at competitions?
Nina Kraja: The cheerleaders and the Mascot perform their best and have been trying to elicit a strong response from the crowd. The reactions we've been getting from spectators have been positive thus far, which is great reinforcement for the squad. There are times when frustration grows and difficulties arise, however what is important is that we overcome every obstacle as a squad and as the old cliché goes, “what doesn't kill you makes you stronger”…we definitely plan on being the strongest!!
- Who has achieved special accomplishments?
Nina Kraja:
At the moment we have named Tai'ana Searight and Jonique Jarvis our Captain and Co-captain. They have proved to encourage peers during difficult and frustrating times. They share their knowledge and love for cheering continuously and are recognized for these great qualities.
Are there any particular philosophies you pass on to the team?
Nina Kraja: We try to encourage unity amongst the squad and hope that this goal extends throughout the entire school.
