The PHS Band, comprised of 67 students, performed 5 songs for the Veterans Day Ceremony at Monument Park, including a medley of armed forces songs, all of which were a big hit with the crowd. The band was proud to bring their talent to the vets, and also proud to show off their new drum line just acquired for the marching band. They sound great and look even better. Forty-three band members then took a bus ride to the American Legion Hall and enjoyed lunch with the veterans.
The band is now preparing for the winter concert on December 14th, to be held at the Paramount Theater. They hope to p
lay a medley from West Side Story, among other songs. They will end with African Bell Carol which will feature our premier percussionist Dominic Torres.
As band director I’m proud of my students and believe that the, “study of music provides life lessons in discipline and respect toward a common goal.” The marching and concert bands work hard collectively and prove just that with their unified melodious sound.
