False Promises

False+Promises

As we entered the 2012-2013 school year, we were introduced to a brand spanking new cafeteria.  Along with this cafeteria we had been promised better food, more food options, a salad bar and even a grill!  What did we get?  NOTHING that was promised.  I went around the school and asked fellow classmates how they felt about this “new and improved” cafeteria and here is what they said.  According to Eric R. “the food was fake, expensive, and makes me feel fat.”  He was not the only one who felt that way.  Lashon W., Asia B., and Valerie P. agreed with Eric R. and added that the food was repetitive, fake, overpriced and even made them feel disgusting about themselves.  Lots of students feel that there was a better selection of food in the old cafeteria.

Along with the bad comes the good.  Many students gave thumbs up to the cafeteria for adding cheese sticks, having great chicken wings, soft cookies and chicken nuggets.  Unfortunately the bad outweighs the good and has driven students to not even want to eat there anymore.  Here are a couple of suggestions by students.  More ketchup please!  Instead of French fries every day, can we have mashed potatoes?  Can we have a salad bar like we had before in the old cafeteria?

Vending machines and microwaves would be essential assets to our cafeteria.  Teachers are constantly being harassed by students to heat up their food in the teachers’ lounge.   Options people, we need options!  You know those two great plasma TV’s in the cafeteria?  It would be nice to see some TV.  I mean that is why the PTO donated them to us.

If you would like your voice to be heard, you can visit the PHS Website, click on student resources, scroll down to lunch menu and get all the information you need.  Don’t let them get away with taking what we are entitled to.  A promise is a promise!
