Students used trigonometry, specifically the Tangent function, to measure the height of the flagpole. They measured a horizontal distance to the base of the pole from a fixed point on the ground. They measured the angle of elevation from the ground to the top of the pole. With the angle and one leg of the right triangle, they computed the height of the pole to be 65 feet.
