Drama tryouts were held on Jan. 6, 2010 for the various parts in Into The Woods. Parts will be decided soon and rehearsals will start, which means we will be very busy for the next four months.

We will be starting our fundraising drive in January.  This will include candy sales, outdoor performances, and a Rock Band tournament to name a few.  So look for those kids with the candy boxes in the next few weeks.

My philosophy I tell the drama students is to work hard and greatness always follows.

TRYOUT OBSERVATIONS BY KAYLA MCDONALD

On January 6, 2010 after school, I stayed around for a little bit and watched the drama tryouts for the new play that will be coming soon called Into The Woods.   Before tryouts started I asked some of the students what they admire the most about drama. The drama club members mostly replied that they like to sing, dance and act but they also like being in the spotlight!   During the tryouts, the 25 students that signed up for the new play, had to sing a song that was theatre related.   A popular song that was chosen by a few people was Season of Love, that you probably heard if you saw the play or movie Rent. Students that sang this song were Camille and Isaiah and others.   During the tryouts I noticed that some students lacked a strong voice. By that I mean that they just needed to be a little bit louder. The ones that were low had good voices, it is just that I struggled to hear them. But then again I will give them their credit because during the tryouts I had to sit in the back of the auditorium since it was supposed to be  a closed tryout.   Some of the student performances that I really enjoyed were from Rebecca, Juliana, Danny, Lauren and others.  Personally, I’m into dramas and musicals and a majority of the students, if you asked me, had really good potential because of their voices. The only advice that I have for the people who tried out is if you want to peruse being an actor or actress as a career then you just have to be confident in everything that you do. And I hope that everyone gets the part that they tried out for!
