September+Pop+Culture

Even though the summer is over, September was still a big month in the pop culture world. A new wave of music dropped, new movies came out, and new video games were released. We ended the summer with Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop”, and now Jessie J keeps the party going with her new single “It’s My Party”. Lady Gaga opened the VMA’s with her single “Applause” and Katy Perry closed the show with her new single “Roar”. The VMA’s also showcased Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ new single “Same Love” and Robin Thicke’s new hit “Blurred Lines”. With much to the surprise of their fans, B5 made a return with their single “Say Yes”. The two major albums that are being dropped are Drake’s Nothing was the same, which includes his new single “Hold on We’re Going Home” and Self Made 3 by MMG.

New movies are coming out every week, but Mercury is here to keep you updated. The latest scary movie was the crowd thriller, Insidious: Chapter 2. More movies were Riddick and Prisoners. New movies that are waiting to come out are Baggage Claim staring Paula Patton, Battle of the Year staring Chris Brown, and the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 for the children.

Last, but surely not least, the new video games for the month. The game every teenager had to have was Grand Theft Auto 5 which released on the 17th. This game was the best selling by popular demand. Earlier in the month Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate came out on the 3rd. But overall, this definitely was a month for the soccer fans. They were given double the fun when on the 24th FIFA 14 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 was released.
