PHS Wins Business Skills Olympics

PHS+Wins+Business+Skills+Olympics

On Friday, November 15, the Peekskill High School team defeated 17 other Westchester high schools to win the annual Business Olympics competition, sponsored by African American Men of Westchester.  Hosted by the Morgan Stanley Company at its White Plains office, the contest challenged students with a real life business scenario (Twitter’s recent IPO) to study, analyze and to present their findings and recommendations to a panel of judges.

The winners, our own Peekskill students, will be hosted to an elaborate dinner with their families. In addition to gold medals, students will receive Kindle Fires. Peekskill High School will be the recipient of a gold cup to display proudly in our trophy case, in recognition of our students’ achievement.

The victorious team is shown in the photo on their return to PHS on Friday. The members of the winning team were: Emrigael Alpern, Isaah Claxton, Christopher Garzon, Jacqueline Machizaca, Andy Martinez, Kylea Mulligan, Ariel Ortiz, Emmett Warmbrand, and Afua Yeboah. Their faculty advisers are Assistant Principal Kent Picou, shown in the photo,  and Social Studies department chair Sharon Cummings. Congratulations to all!
