Community Spirit Week- We believe that we have a strong feeling of community at Peekskill High School and that our community has a lot of spirit, but it always a good idea to spend time reinforcing these ideals, especially if you can have some fun while you are at it!
To celebrate the week, the PBIS Committee has planned a number of activities to highlight and reinforce the Community Spirit at Peekskill High School.
Monday 3/28- Power of Peace Workshops-
We will be using Power of Peace Participant Students who were trained to be facilitators and students from Mr. O’Donnell’s Government classes to help lead students in community building activities based on those used in Power of Peace Training. The Workshops will take place in the Cafeteria using the following schedule.
2nd Period- Team C
3rd Period – Team B

Wednesday 3/30 – Student Appreciation Day
We are asking that teachers do not give homework or tests on this day.
We are asking teachers to donate baked goods to be distributed to students at lunch time.
All teachers will be given, “caught being good” tokens which they can hand out as they see fit to reward students who are following the school rules of Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be Respectful. We will be especially targeting hallway behavior. Tokens will be turned in the following day for treats and other items.
Thursday 3/31 – Teacher Appreciation Day-
There will be a staff breakfast hosted by the Student Council
Teachers will receive a special gift.
Students will write “Positive Post Cards” for their teachers-
Post Card Writing Schedule
9th-10th -11th Grade
During Science Class, students will write a card to their Math teacher
During Math Class, students will write a card to their Science teacher
During Social Studies Class, students will write a card to their English teacher
During English Class, students will write two cards, one to their Social Studies teacher and one to a gym or elective teacher.
Special Education Students
Partnering teachers will supervise the writing for their partner. All students will also write for TA’s
Seniors
During English Class, Seniors will be give cards to write to which ever teacher that they choose from their four years at PHS.
Volunteers and Service Clubs will be enlisted to write cards for non teaching staff
Friday 4/1 – Pep Rally
In honor of our Champion Lady Red Devils, we will hold a pep rally during 8th period. The rally will include a band performance, recognition of the girls’ team and a fun interactive student teacher activity .
Saturday 4/2 – Parade to Celebrate the Girls’ Varsity State Championship Win. Parade kicks off from PHS at 11 a..m. All students, family, and friends are invited to participate. Wearing RED is encouraged!
