White Plains NY -March 22, 2010 County Legislator John G. Testa today announced special youth employment grant funding for The City of Peekskill Youth Bureau.
In a letter to Youth Bureau Director Valerie Swan, Testa announced the grant funding, in the amount of $75,000 as part of the New York State Department of Labor’s Green Jobs Corps Program. “I am pleased to write today to announce good news in the form of grant funding for the City of Peekskill Youth Bureau.” Testa notes that only a week prior, on March 8, in a meeting with the entire Peekskill City Council and with Youth Bureau Director Swan, a major topic of concern was the need for youth employment funding.
“The grant of $75,000 from Westchester County to the Peekskill Youth Bureau will help address those needs and will greatly augment our ability to provide much needed employment opportunities for our youth,” said Testa in his letter.
Testa, a former Mayor of Peekskill and City Councilman in that city, was elected in November 2009 in District 1
covering Peekskill, Cortlandt, and Yorktown.
