On Wednesday January 8th 2014, the Peekskill High School Winter Concert was held that featured the Peekskill High School Chorus (directed by Mr. Larry Del Casale) and Concert Band (directed by Mr. John Hahn).  Guests were entertained by wonderful songs that were sang by the high school’s Chorus and accompanied by Mr. Aris Green on the piano. The songs that the Chorus performed were the National Anthem by (J.S. Smith and F. Scott Key), Something About December (by Christina Perri), On This Winter’s Night (by Lady Antebellum), You Are Not Alone (by R. Kelly) which featured Afua Yeboah and James Spry singing their solos, Baby It’s Cold Outside (by Frank Loesser), and I Want To Know What Love Is (by Foreigner). The Peekskill High School Concert Band also entertained us with incredible music which were Higher Ground by Stevie Wonder, Bashana Haba’Ah by Nurit Hirsh, Movie Blockbusters (which was a collection of songs that were Mission Impossible, My Heart Will Go On, Hymn To The Red October, Zorro’s Theme, and Raider’s March) arranged by Micheal Brown, and the traditional African Bell Carol (which featured a guitar and drum solo). In between Movie Blockbusters and African Bell Carol we were given an epic performance by Emmanuel Henry and Paul Beladino, along with Mr. John Hahn. It was an epic, wonderful night and an outstanding performance from both the Chorus and the Concert Band. Get ready for another performance by the Chorus and Band at the 2014 Spring Concert on May 14. Hope that all attend, you won’t regret it.

Mr. Larry Del Casale and Mr. John Hahn and all their talented PHS singers and musicians produced a wonderful concert that warmed a cold winter night.

Please also note, that the PHS Chorus has had an amazing year thus far.  In November, the Mercury reported that the Chorus entered a Foreigner Grammy Foundation Competition to try and win a $10,000 grant for music education at Peekskill High School.  Click here to view the article.
