The Peekskill Community held a concert on Saturday. It was a concert for a cause —Unity. Sponsored by civic and religious groups, the concert at the Paramount Theater, “One Peekskill, One World” was held to bring people together in a celebration of our city’s diverse cultures. Performers were from around the world and our own backyard. School Board member, Tuesday Paige McDonald, lit up the stage with her singing. Peekskill High School was well represented at the concert: PHS graduate Ibrahim Saddiq ( a.k.a. P.O.E.T. and Mrs. Imhof’s son) performed slam poetry. Fellow graduate, Andre Rainey (a.k.a. Noodle) performed a rap. The classic rock band ” Backlash” with drummer Manny Henry, guitarist Pauly Beladino (Class of 2014), and singer Alexandra Sanchez ( Class of 2015) brought a ” whole lotta love” to the theater. The show’s finale was performed by the Peekskill CSD Ensemble which included many of Mr. Hahn’s and Mr. Del Casale’s band students and also included Singers Jachele Walker ( Class of 2011), Alexandra Sanchez (PKMS), and Miles Harvey ( Hillcrest). Their song “Convictions of the Heart” brought the message of Unity home to everyone present.
