All Seniors know the process all too well by now but there is always something you don’t know. As the due dates for most college applications draws ever closer there are a few things you should go over, if you have not done so already. Make sure you have all of your teacher recommendations in order. If you are applying to colleges on the Common Application you will need them to fill out the Teacher Evaluation Form. It is not the same as asking for a letter of recommendation. You must also remember to send your Official standardized testing scores to your colleges. This can be done on College Board’s website. Another thing you should definitely look for in your colleges is if they require a Mid-Year or Final School Report. It is not wise to think that once you send in your finished applications, you can stop trying your best in academics. Some colleges require more than your first quarter grades to make their decision.
Remember, Guidance needs at least 5 days to process applications before sending them out.
Also, remember to be on the look out for scholarships. Remember what our popular security guard, Pete, always says, “College is free.” Listen to announcements, or check in with the College Resource Center (CRC) for more information on scholarship opportunities.
There will be a Financial Aid Workshop on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 7:00 PM int he High School Cafeteria to assist you in filling out your financial aid forms (Free Application for Federal Student Aid, FAFSA). Note*: Financial aid forms should be filed as soon as possible after this meeting to maximize your opportunities for financial aid.
